If you love Halloween as much as I do, you are in the right city!!! There are lots of dastardly deeds and events happening around town both this weekend and next.
This weekend, the HighBall will change from a one night event to a two day affair. So much going on there! Check out this info from their website:
Friday and Saturday • October 25 and 26
On High Street between Nationwide Blvd. and Goodale St. in the Short North
$5 Admission at the gate
Children 12 and under free Saturday, Noon – 4:00PM
“…the single most elaborate Halloween event in the country.”
“…one of the country’s coolest and most fashionable costume parties.”
HighBall Halloween presented by Pagetech Limited is one of Ohio’s most anticipated Halloween celebrations. So big they had to close High Street to stage it! The best costume spying in Ohio. Electrifying stage shows and eye-popping street performances. The festivities are held directly on High Street in the blocks connecting the famed Short North Arts District to the Arena District and Downtown Columbus.
To commemorate its sixth anniversary, HighBall is expanding to two days – Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26. The experience begins Friday evening with dancing in the street, bands, stage shows and designer competitions. The fun continues during the day on Saturday with activities for children and families, followed by the outrageous Dogtober Howloween pet costume contest.
Saturday night returns to dancing in the streets and the highly-anticipated general public costume contests where thousands of dollars in cash and prizes are on the line.
A mixture of Carnivale, Mardi Gras, Day of the Dead, Halloween and a New York runway show! Really.
Features: 5K Costume Zoom and Fun Run; Kid’s Day costume contest and festival; Dogtober Day pet costume contest; muralists; Day of the Dea celebrations; OS Tailgate party; Costume Couture Fashion showdown for professional designers (featured in my blog, Kelli Martin will be participating…go Fashion Mobsters!); HighBall costume contest for public; bands, DJs and dancing in the street; crafts and workshops; cinematic make-up artists and so much more!!! You can even get in on hotel specials at the Hilton Downtown Columbus
Great food and beverages. Over 10,000 parking spaces within a 2-block radius.
Proceeds from HighBall Halloween presented by Pagetech are reinvested into the Short North Arts District. Profits help underwrite the programs and activities of the Short North Alliance, including: safety, district promotions, holiday campaigns, public art installations, parking management, and the strip’s clean and beautiful campaigns.
The Short North Alliance is a registered 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization established to nurture the Short North Arts District as a vibrant, balanced residential, cultural and business community; and as a regional and national destination, by:
* Advocating for and connecting the Short North with all of Columbus
* Improving public space infrastructure, access to and mobility within the Short North
* Creating a dynamic environment conducive to the arts
* Collaborating on marketing and programming initiatives that benefit the Arts District
* Developing resources to accomplish the Alliance’s goals
* Creating a clean and safe environment

I will be vending at this event along with many other talented folks, including my booth mate, Jim Parker, from 6-9 p.m.(admission is free to this part of the event!) next Friday, November 1st (let’s make Halloween last as long as possible, please!)

Halloween is quickly approaching and the sequel to Fear Hundred will be something you won’t want to miss!
The 3rd installment of Fear hundred will feature a Halloween themed art exhibition, vendors, live performances, a band, DJ’s, costume contests, dance party, and a chance to experience the new event space at Strongwater Food and Spirits.
If you take your chances and appear as the sun goes down, you will have the opportunity to see Ohio’s finest creepy vendors, displaying spooky jewelry, artwork and other handmade goodies. The vendors will have their work for sale between the hours of 6 pm – 9 pm.
After the ghoulish hour of 9 pm, there will be a COVER CHARGE of $5 to attend this freakishly fabulous party that will go into the early morning hours with a dance party after midnight.
Costumes are a must at this horror themed event. Awards will go to the BEST COSTUME, BEST COSTUMED COUPLE and BEST GROUP COSTUME.
As you enjoy the night, be prepared to witness some terrifying artwork created by some of Columbus’ best local artists. Strongwater’s amazing event space will be transformed with horror inspired art that will be available to purchase for your own creepy collection.
During the vendors’ sale you will be treated (not tricked!) to the sounds of DJ’s Wonder Doug and Adrian X, as well as being subjected to all of the crazy visual stimulation provided by Derek Stewart, in our movie area.
