Due to recent looming weather, the RAW: Columbus showcase launch has been POSTPONED.
We have rescheduled for Wednesday, February 26th, 2014.
Same time, same venue.
Once again this weekend there is lots to see and lots of talented people showing their works…and next Wednesday lots of wonderful art to see/buy at the first RAW!
On Saturday, February 1, Stone Village’s art gallery welcomes local artist, Arlo Moon, and his amazing art pop exhibit, 181 pop ecl-8. The exhibit focuses upon modern pop art from a cultural anthropology aspect, utilizing mixed media as a means of interpretation.
We hope you will join us in celebrating art!
More about Arlo Moon
I am a self taught visual artist working in different mediums and processes to convey a visual connection. The styles I really enjoy are modern pop art and prior to that non-objective abstract painting. Although seemingly different each contains its own unique communication which I really enjoy. Contrary to what I have read and have been told as far as living life, personal evolution is the true process that is hidden behind a artist’s daily life rather than a destination concept. The current work as of the end 0f 2013 deals mostly with modern pop art almost from a cultural anthropology aspect ( as in I would love to document in my own way each popular person and or thing in the 20th century plus) not just make the most popular people to sell a piece. I also dream( how ever lofty this may seem) that as I do a lot of mixed media a hybrid froms of all styles/processes that it could be possible in the future to invent something new through hybrid. Even though the concept of the “new” is disputed by many that I know I can let that go in thinking there could be a new sunset in visual art in the future as in a mixing of all the styles and process to a new form something like hip hop or early rock n roll or others in music.
|Amber Groome and Chas Ray Krider work in media that could not be more different. But there is something about Amber’s tough yet lovely doll sculptures that resonates with Chas Ray’s cinematic fashion and erotic photography. Both are intuitively modern, use dreamlike tones and are undeniably fetishistic. 6:00pm until 9:00pm
