Characters The Define Us
The Art and Artists Of 614 network’s “Characters that Define Us” is an exhibit that embraces the role characters play in the visual arts. Buckles and Boots
King Avenue 5
This is it folks! Buckles and Boots last big show in Columbus before our big move to Memphis, TN. We’ll also be releasing our new EP, The Red Feather. If that wasn’t enough, we’ll be playing what very well might be the last ever set with our band The Song Birds to start off the night. Also joining us will be an awesome touring band from Knoxville, The Black Cadillacs. So come out for an amazing party and help us say goodbye to Columbus in an epic way!
Circus of Cool
10 p.m. -2 a.m.
Started by Don Pavelcik and Lady Monster in 1995, (it was first called Cool Mondays when it took place at Bernie’s).
He wanted to create a Rebirth of The Beat – providing improvised jazz with poetry. I found poets and he brought together the jazz musicians, and produced the events.
In 1999, Don Pavelcik passed away from thyroid cancer. I handed the reins of the event to Krista Kitty. This event continues to be a regular event because of her. Thanks Krista for keeping the spirit of Don alive with Circus of Cool for the past 15 years.
It is a staple at ComFest and the jazz stage was named for Don. He was a big organizer for the festival for many years, and inspired the creation of a stage just for jazz.
This particular event is a reprise of the Circus of Cool that took place during ComFest at the I Wish You Jazz Stage.
CCC’s July meeting is HERE!
We are (at least for the Summer) sliding the meetings back to 5:00! It’s the CCC Art Happy Hour!
We’ll share all of the important info once we have a good size group!
We’ll be talking about the upcoming 5th Birthday of the group and what we are planning. We’ll also be deciding if we are going to take part in Independent’s Day.
Please feel free to bring art to work on and anything that you would like to share or have critiqued!
