Man, I’ve been a slacker with posting in the last three weeks. Between recovering from this stinking surgery, a 10 day trip to Florida and getting back into the ‘real’ world this week, I just haven’t been motivated. BUT all of the great things going on this weekend have inspired me, if a little on the late side, to get crackin’!
So, here’s what’s happening this weekend, that I know of!

“The Road Won’t Love You”
On view dates: April 10 thru April 25th 2015
Gallery reception date: April 10th
This show is rooted in Michael Bush’s traditional abstractions and the study of creative collaboration. Inspired by artistssuch as Rothko, Richter, de Kooning and Bourguignon, Michael’s takes on the movement of abstraction have a dreamscape feel that is completely original. As an active member of the Columbus arts community, Michael continually draws creative and personal encouragement from his contemporaries. This exhibit is composed of collaborative works between himself and other local standout artists, including Stephanie Rond, Dan Gerdeman, Lisa McLymont, AJ Vanderelli and Chris Tennant.
For the show, Michael created an abstraction for each artist to then create work on top of, with or inspired by. The interpretations are refreshing and exciting examples of modern creative collaboration and the conversation of what one’s art means to others
Unfortunately, I missed this opening on Tuesday evening but you can still check out the show at Dublin Arts Council!
Family and Friends
Barbara Vogel and Marjorie Bender
April 7 – May 16, 2015
Dublin Arts Council
Marjorie Bender and Barbara Vogel: Family and Friends offers a moving and amusing look at the pivotal relationships of our lives: those with our families and friends. Bender and Vogel have both exhibited extensively in the Columbus area. Bender is best known for her clay sculptures, but also produces and exhibits drawings and paintings. Vogel’s background is in photography. Many of her works continue to connect to photographic images, often in unexpected ways. The artists excel in conveying the many dimensions of our closest relationships and in utilizing humor — sometimes whimsical, sometimes dark — to undercut sentimentality. Family and Friends brings together earlier and more recent works by both artists and will feature a new collaborative project that pays homage to a number of their mutual friends and mentors.
Gallery hours: Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Details: www.dublinarts.orgor 614.889.7444.
