Hopkins Hall

Reception: Play and Display

Thursday July 9th

3-4 p.m.

play and display

Heather Kaplan, a doctoral student in the Department of Arts Administration, Education, and Policy at Ohio State, is interested in the intersections of play and art-making. Through Play and Display, Kaplan stretches these notions of play and art-making through audience interaction. Revolving around play and experimentation, the pieces she creates convey a language of toys and collectibles that beg to be arranged and rearranged. For this exhibition, the audience has the opportunity to play with the work through areas where they can make, play, move, and create.
Duration of exhibition:
Tuesday, July 7, 2015 to Friday, July 10, 2015

vanderelli room

Let’s support fellow artist and gallery operator, AJ Vanderelli!!!

On Saturday July 18th The Vanderelli Room will be celebrating Alicia’s 40th Birthday and auctioning off artwork to raise money for the gallery. There will be a silent auction as well as a live auction for commission work. Silent auction pieces will have a starting bid price determined by the artist and if the piece sells the artists can decide to donate 50% 75% or 100% of the proceeds to the gallery. The commission auction will be live and the auctioneer will show slides of an artists work and the audience will bid to have that artist create a piece for them. Size and other limitations will of course be presented as well as making sure the buyer understands they will be working under guidelines from the artist and the artist will not be asked to create anything outside of their style or comfort zone. The artist can then decide what percentage (50/75/100) they want to donate to the gallery once complete.

Please join artists on July 18th from 7pm to 10 pm, at the Vanderelli Room, for ROLL CALL: Artists uniting to benefit the Vanderelli Room. A silent auction of works created by many of Columbus’ finest artists will be held to upgrade, continue, and expand it’s community projects.
So here is how you can help, I NEED ART!!!! Please please please consider donating a piece of work or be a part of the commission auction, or both! Email me to participate and for more info, drop off and details. or donate to:

Your chance to help out an incredible artist and get a great piece of her work!

Want to support Ruthie Burke practice AND acquire a totally unique work of art? Here’s your chance. Currently only accepting PayPal but if you don’t have one, she can work around that. There will be a few more smaller pieces added later in the week as well.  As she states:

“I am incredibly excited to start my graduate studies at the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design but I need your help. The costs of moving are adding up very quickly as the transition from being fully employed to being on a very modest stipend begins. This is where I am calling on you!  Will you buy a piece of artwork to help me stay afloat while in graduate school?”
