First, I want to say that I wish I had promoted last weekend’s events but due to some personal issues was not able to. Soooo, I will do a little pimping of one particular event: Urban Scrawl. WOW does not even begin to describe this year’s entries so I will just show you a few pics of the diversity and talent of the 60+ artists who participated!

Convergence: Christopher Burk and Jacci Delaney will be on view from September 4th to September 27th, with an artists’ reception on September 4th from 5:30 to 8 pm. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
In addition, Burk and Delaney will each exhibit with a chosen contemporary in order to showcase their work in the context of other emerging artists of Columbus. Cody Heichel and Natalia Arbelaez’s use of watercolor and sculpture, respectively, provide a greater purview of the contemporary arts scene in Columbus.

Fashion Meets Music Festival is a two-day, four-stage festival featuring a variety of the best acts in live music and fashion. The festival fuses two loves into one celebration elevating music and fashion into an experience featuring live performances, runway shows, local food, beverages, unique activations, and more.
The festival will return to the Arena District in Columbus, OH this Labor Day Weekend and will require a ticket for entry. Join us as this year’s lineup will include a collaboration of the nations’ hottest music acts and fashion designers that will not only attract and bring together the local Columbus community but will position Columbus, OH as a Labor Day weekend destination; September 5 & 6, 2015.

Girls to the Front!

What the Rock?! will be opening their walls again for an art show benefitting FemmeFest 2015. Girls to the Front will be work by local artists who are inspired by the theme of FemmeFest, which is feminism, anti-violence, expression and intersectionality. A celebration of powerful women, non violent resistance, and awareness of equality are some of the themes that will be explored. Partcicpating artists will give a portion of the selling price to FemmeFest’s charity which is Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Org, which works throughout Ohio to eliminate violence perpetuated on the basis of sexual orientation and/or gender identification. What the Rock?! will also donate 15% of all retail sales to the Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization during the show’s opening as well.
Buy some kick ass local art and help a local charity at the same time! Celebrate the awesomeness of Femmefest! It’s a win win for everyone. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

On Saturday, September 5 from 5 – 7 pm, Stone Village Art Gallery welcomes local artist, Michol Childress, and her beautiful collection of new work, “Spirit Animus” (Breath of Life), which explores and investigates the schism and tension between the expected beauty of the human figure, and the unexpected sensuality of nature.
In addition to Michol’s new exhibit, a delicious array of foods and desserts will be on hand for the opening reception. The exhibit will hang within Stone Village Art Gallery through Sunday, September 27.

BRAVO – works to eliminate violence perpetrated on the basis of sexual orientation and/or gender identification, domestic violence, and sexual assault through prevention, education, advocacy, violence documentation, and survivor services, both within and on behalf of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender communities.

This is a free concert in the Columbus Commons. Hear the Art, See the Music!
Join in at 7:00 for a set from the amazing Donna Mogavero and then Shadowbox will take the stage around 8 pm for the critically acclaimed Gallery of Echoes!
In collaboration with the Columbus Museum of Art, Shadowbox Live presents Gallery of Echoes : The CMA Experience – a 21-song cycle, multi-media performance where the artwork takes center stage. Original rock ‘n’ roll, evocative video, and contemporary dance compliment the visceral artwork selected from the museum’s permanent collection for this one-of-a-kind production. Gallery of Echoes : The CMA Experience is presented in part by PNC’s Arts Alive!
