Gateway Film Center: Time is Art

Wednesday July 20

6:30 p.m.

Help Women Of Vision Events bring TIME IS ART to Columbus! Purchase your $10 ticket at before July 10. The first 65 people to reserve a ticket will be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize. The film will be followed by a group discussion.

Women of Vision Events is a group of Columbus women who are building community through film. Tugg enables groups like ours to bring films to the community. Tongue: Group Exhibition

Angela Meleca Gallery

Saturday July 23rd

6-8 p.m.

July 23 – September 3, 2016
Opening reception: Saturday, July 23, 6 to 8pm

Angela Meleca Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Tongue, a group exhibition featuring artist whose work is influenced by language and text. The show includes work by Erica Baum, Robert Buck, Youmna Chlala, Laura Lisbon, Ian Ruffino, Suzanne Silver and Ryland Wharton.

Tongue explores one of the most enduring discourses in art history, the relationship between language and image. The inspiration for the exhibition title came from the catalogue essay written by Dr. Omedi Ochieng, Assistant Professor at Denison University. In it he quotes John Berger as saying, “Seeing comes before words. The child looks and recognizes before it can speak…It is seeing which establishes our place in the surrounding world; we explain that world with words, but words can never undo the fact that we are surrounded by it.”

If you feel like heading North to see previously featured jewelry artist Kristin Ellis…
