Gallery Night: Wild Goose Creative

Geek Love

Saturday August 6th

7-10 p.m.

6pm: Members-Only Preview

7pm: Public Reception
In the spirit of last year’s Art of the Leviathan gallery show and Moby Dick reading marathon at Wild Goose Creative, August’s gallery show will be themed around another cult favorite. This time we will feature Katherine Dunn’s oddball masterpiece, Geek Love, a story told through the quintessential gaze of the ultimate outsider, Olympia Binewski, a hunch-back, albino dwarf. Geek Love is the tale of the Binewski Carnival’s amazing family of carnies. It is as unforgettable as its cultural influence has been prodigious.
The month of Geek Love events includes an exhibition celebrating this unusual tale of stunningly original characters. The month culminates with a 10-hour out-loud community marathon reading of the entire book.
The show will run through the month of August and will feature works from:
Rob W. Jones | Tim Kern | Merlinna Thompson | Ben Lamb
Roger Kent Grosswiler Jr. | Alli MacGregor | Brian Grosz
Julie Whittaker | Matt Kish | Leighanna DeRouen
Randal Pearson | Callie Schmeltz | Alan Reeve
Charles V. Bennett | Marlin Hauff | Eric Popp | Eric James
Jake Norman | Gregory Johnson | and more
Curated by Roger Kent Grosswiler Jr.
