art on tap

The Wild Goose Creative Annual Membership Drive is underway and this year we’re amping it up.

They’re having a little party for supporters – members and anyone else interested in learning more about what they do. Join them at Rambling House on Wednesday, August 24th from 5:30 pm to 8 pm, with music starting at 6:30 pm.

Rambling House will be tapping several beers from Commonhouse Ales for the event. It’s a new local brand from an old local hand. Owner Lenny Kolada, also owner of the Smokehouse Brewing Co., started Commonhouse Ales and is working to become a B-Corporation, one of the first breweries to seek the designation, which would direct a portion of sales toward local nonprofit causes.

Connect with other Wild Goose members, find out more about Wild Goose membership and grab a beer from Common House Ales or a soda from Rambling House Soda. They have a surprise or two up they sleeves that you don’t want to miss.
Bring your friends!

Tacocat: Rest in Pizza Party

Friday August 27th

6-10 p.m.

Sadly, the Tacocat Co-op is at an end and the tenants will be moving to other studios throughout the city. The building is set to be demolished to make a tree lined street in Grandview Yard. What better way to celebrate a great three years than having a pizza    party! There will be music, artists will have work on sale (so we don’t have to move it) and people will have a chance to see the buildings guts after tenants start tearing it apart to move to their new studios. Stay tuned for where those great artists end up…I will try to make sure that you can connect with each of them in their new abodes!!

400 West Rich

Urban Scrawl is a 2-day arts festival organized by the Franklinton Arts District featuring the live creation of murals at 400 W. Rich by talented artists from central Ohio and beyond. Since 2007, Urban Scrawl has provided Columbus artists a way to showcase their talent while participating in Central Ohio’s largest ongoing urban renewal project. Each year the number of participants, murals, sponsors, and attendees grows making this a landmark summer event in Columbus, Ohio.

These completed murals are now being made available for purchase annually at the Art for Franklinton fundraiser auction to benefit Franklinton Arts District’s new George Bellows Artist Grants program. Other murals not appearing in the fundraiser auction are weather-sealed and mounted publicly in the neighborhood, in cooperation with local businesses, to help enliven the community of Franklinton, Central Ohio’s historic first settlement.

The 2-day FREE event also features:
· A DJ, MC, and breakdancing stage presented by Squared
· Cold Beer from Rhinegeist and cocktails from Middle West Spirits
· Great local food trucks

· Custom T-shirt screen printing on-site from Positive Negative Press
