Overlook, landscapes by Leah Storrs
Leah Storrs has been a driving force in our creative community and we’re so excited to feature her in our first solo show of 2017. Her work will be on display for the month of February and you can meet Leah at the gallery opening on February 18th.
Think about that place of special significance to you. Maybe it’s a cozy corner at your local park or an empty building waiting to be transformed into a cafe. These places aren’t obvious but they are special.
The overlooked parts of places make our city exciting. We all know the picturesque skylines and landmark buildings, but for this show, I wanted to highlight places of modest beauty; the little quirks, cracks and imperfections make these places stand out. It’s about more than pretty places — it’s about the intersection of place and experience.
This show delves into places, spaces, and locations that have been imprinted on me. Taking architecture, alleys, landscapes and gardens and interpreting them into watercolors, silkscreens and embroidery. My hope is that it reminds the viewer to think back on all those special places.

Transcendence: Solo Exhibit by Chrystal Robinson-Shofroth
Friday 6 p.m.
The word “transcendence” can mean the existence or experience beyond the normal. in many ways this word can relate to my artwork and my life. in this solo exhibit, my first solo exhibit back at Jupiter after many years, I am excited to go back to my roots and expand into the future. Thank you Tammy and ritchie for accepting me back into your gallery. I am trying to express my thoughts on the word transcendence and the broad concepts of both spiritual transcendence and philosophical transcendence. I have been working on a series of large scale paintings titled ” shapeshifter” they will debut at this exhibit as well as some additions to my ” the beauty of insects” series and several new paintings. many local favourites will be there as well, some have not been exhibited in years including ” white buffalo woman” and “skinny dipping” both I painted live at Jupiter studios. I will be doing a live painting titled “transcendence” and there will be musicians. Come join us for, fun, food, drinks and see my newest artwork. I will have originals, prints and postcards available for purchase! the supplies used on the paintings created for this exhibit are funded by The Ohio Arts Council Disability Access Grant and I could not thank them and the VSA Ohio enough for their support! Thank you to my community to friends for your support all these years!
