CS Gallery
Gallery and Show Closing
Damn If We Didn’t Have a Good Time!
6-9 p.m.
It is with real sadness that I post this. Daniel has been a great supporter of local artists and it is with regret that I have to say good bye to his gallery on Parsons Avenue. Wishing him best wishes in 2015 with hopes that perhaps he will be able to re-open his doors some time in the Old Towne East area or somewhere else in Columbus! We’ll miss you!!!!
From owner, Daniel Colvin:
Dear Friends,
As we go into this holiday season and new year we would like to sincerely thank you all for all of your love and support.
However it is with a deep sadness that we announce that as of January 9th CS Gallery will be closing its doors. Due to circumstances beyond our control, mainly a rent increase that we cannot sustain, we will not be moving into the 2015 season.
If you are an artist or crafter with work in our space please contact us anytime between now and the 9th – we will be contacting you as well.
We will be having a final Bon Voyage sale between now and January 9th by appointment, or open to the public Jan 7th to the 9th during business hours.
We hope that you will join us on January 9th from 6 – 9 pm for a closing reception for J.T. Thompson’s show and for one more final hurrah to help us say good bye to a great space and 5 years of hard work, because Damn if we didn’t have a good time….
Although I am still in Florida, I want to promote what is going on this weekend! As I sit in a Dunkin Donuts with temps in the 70’s (sorry Central Ohio!!!), I wish I could be home for all of the great things going on this weekend. First, an opening on Thursday. Then an art packed Friday in Franklinton. Lots going on during 400 Days with additional fun at Ethical Arts, Glass Axis, Rehab Tavern, Vanderelli Room and demos at CIF!!! Friday Franklinton is the place to be!!! Have fun and stay warm Columbus!!!

Ethical Arts Collective
6-? p.m.
Friday January 9th
Come see why the Ethical Arts Collective is so unique and how Franklinton Fridays is becoming the biggest event on the 2nd Friday of each month. The Arts Collective has so much richness and is a staple to the Franklinton community with its New York warehouse like feel, the very large open space and its bohemian genre. This month there will be vendors who create art in their own unique way. From a jewelry maker, vintage boutique, designer, oil distributor, makeup artist, photographer and more, you will enter the doors to see their passion while enjoying food, live music and great conversation.
Esther Ruiz: Neon Dreams
Glass Axis
5-9 p.m.
Friday January 9th
Glass Axis is pleased to present Neon Dreams, a solo exhibition of Brooklyn artist Esther Ruiz.
Geodes, neon, colorful plexi, and cast cement are used in harmony to create futuristic space landscapes that bring to mind minimal pop kitsch, core samples, rainbows, and an apocalyptic rebirth found on distant planets. Her beautiful and playful neon sculptures create dream worlds that reference the terrain of the cosmos and the curiosity of a true explorer.
Opening January 9, 2014
On view Jan 9th – Feb 22nd
Esther is a Brooklyn based artist who has exhibited internationally.

Continuing shows:
ROY G BIV Gallery
January 3-31
ROY G BIV Gallery continues to present the work of Nathan Gorgen and Jordin Caudill. Gorgen’s faux-finish paintings question the value of luxury items. Caudill’s geometric compositions explore domestic interior spaces.
January 3–31, 2015
Artists’ Talk: Saturday, January 31, at 2:30 pm
Nathan Gorgen’s faux-finish paintings question the value of luxury materials. Gorgen inverts the general formula. While faux-finishes are cheap, mass-produced imitations of original and luxury materials, Gorgen’s faux-finish paintings become one-of-a-kind originals depicting commonplace materials.

Jordin Caudill’s geometric compositions investigate the design of domestic interior spaces. She repurposes household renovation samples, such as flooring, wallpaper, fabric and laminate, and weaves, sews and stitches them into two-dimensional pieces. In this body of work, Caudill is inspired by the ornate decorations of 17th and 18th Century Dutch genre paintings.
